In the old WRXs (2002-2006) Specifically, the 4EAT Automatic Transmission.
I've found a very good deal on a 2002 WRX Wagon, that's even in blue, but sadly has a automatic in it. I used to own a 2004 WRX Wagon, but I had the stick.
Anybody have any experience with automatic Subaru WRXs? How bad is the experience?

inb4 can't be worse than the head gaskets

I've never driven an automatic one but I owned 2 WRXs over a span of about 10 years and never heard a single good thing about the 4EAT

Just looking at that shifter makes me cringe.

I believe the turbo Subaru engines are actually much less prone to headgasket issues because of a semi-closed deck block design.

I can't imagine that you'd have fun in the auto version after previously owning one with a stick.

The 4EAT is a complete and utter piece of shit. No redeeming qualities at all.

Subarus are known for regular head gasket issues

It's not that bad. I owned an '04 WRX sedan for several years. Slightly different AWD mechanicals (FWD bias) than the 5-speed and you don't lose boost between shifts.
